MIGRAINE
HEADACHES
Migraine headaches usually occur to one side of the head and centres itself behind one eye. Dizziness, light sensitivity, spots before the eyes, nausea and vomiting are known to precede the headache. This is known as the "prodrome" phase. Diagnosis is very important, so special tests may be ordered such as blood work, MRI scan and possibly specialist referral. It is common that the migraine sufferer will have an underactive Thyroid gland, and depending upon gender a lack of estrogen or testosterone. Impacted wisdom teeth are also a common cause. In the female the migraine can occur 3-4 days before or after menstruation or during ovulation. Chiropractic treatment for the migraine sufferer is very successful. It usually takes approximately two to three months for the nervous system to normalise. Please see chiropractic for treatment and management. Helpful Hints for Migraine Sufferers:
